4 Amotekun personnel land in hospital Intensive Care Unit after attack by hoodlums

 Four personnel of Oyo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun, are currently battling for their lives at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of University College Hospital (UCH) after they were attacked by hoodlums on Friday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The personnel and some policemen were attacked by hoodlums in Odeyale area of Ona Ara Local Government. They were said to have been attacked with axes and other dangerous weapons.

Confirming the incident, the Amotekun Commandant in the State, Col. Olayinka Olayanju (rtd), in a statement said the personnel moved to the area following a distress call by Odeyale Community Landlord Association to help dislodge hoodlums perpetrating violence in the community.

He said the personnel were attacked with machetes and axes, adding that four of them with severe injuries were currently receiving treatment at the ICU of the UCH.

He said the corps has commenced investigation into the incident.

Though it was also gathered that policemen were also attacked along with the Amotekun personnel but as the press time, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, CSP Olugbenga Fadeyi is yet to comment on the incident. (Saturday Independent)
