The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Five Star Group, High Chief Emeka Okonkwo, has described Senator Uche Ekwunife as the only governorship aspirant with the capacity to meet the developmental needs of Anambra State.
Okonkwo, popularly known as E-Money, made the statement while hosting the governorship hopeful in his palatial home in Uli, Ihiala Local Government Area of the state, on Wednesday. He said his endorsement was borne out of his personal belief on the caliber of the person fit to replace the incumbent Governor Willie Obiano.
He said: “Your antecedents and track records make you the choice candidate in the upcoming governorship election.”
Earlier in her speech, Ekwunife, who is a leading governorship aspirant for the 2021 gubernatorial election under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said that the next election will provide an opportunity for Anambrarians to install a Governor who understands the political and developmental needs of the state.
She said the state cannot afford to, at this time, produce a governor that lacks the ability to take the bold steps required to reshape the state’s economy.
Ekwunife reiterated her commitment to Local Government Financial Autonomy and community development, saying that she would conduct local government election within one year in office and ensure that the LGAs are developed simultaneously.
She also emphasised her determination to create an enabling environment for investment in the state.
The Senator representing Anambra Central senatorial zone at the national Assembly added: “I urge you and other Anambrarians who have achieved success to show interest in the political system of the state in order to be part of choosing the political leaders in the south-eastern states.”
On his part, Okonkwo’s elder brother, Kingsley Chinweike Okonkwo, popularly known as Kcee in the music industry, assured Ekwunife of their maximum support ahead of the governorship poll.
