The Commissioner of Police in Enugu State, Mr. Ahmad Abdurrahman, has urged newly decorated officers to shun corruption and live above board in the discharge of their duties.

Abdurrahman gave the charge on Thursday in Enugu while decorating 18 officers recently promoted to various higher ranks within the Police Command in Enugu State.

He urged them to put the fear of Almighty God first in all their dealings, “since only Him gives appropriate reward and uplift to any person.”

According to him, to whom much is given, much is also expected; God Almighty that gave you the promotion and your decoration today is expecting more from you.

“As you commissioner, I want to appeal to you to shun corruption; since God Almighty did not receive money or gratification from you before he promoted you and you are decorated today.

“Money got from corruption has never made anybody rich rather you might be wealthy; but riches come with something beyond being wealthy.

“When someone is rich, it means he or she has wealth and other bountiful blessings of God Almighty such as good health, peace of mind and long-life to go with.

“Always do your job with the fear of God Almighty and leave the rest for Him to take care of,” he said.

The Commissioner congratulated the newly promoted and decorated officers, saying: “I am proud of all promoted and decorated officers today and even those awaiting theirs to come.”

Abdurrahman assured that the Command under his watch would continue to live above board and work assiduously to secure the entire Enugu State.

Responding on behalf of the others, Mr. Ita Selong, newly decorated Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of Training and Development, appreciated God for making the promotion and decoration possible.

Selong, who spoke on behalf of other senior police officers promoted and decorated, commended the Inspector-General of Police, the state commissioner of police and his management team for the promotion and decoration.

“We are pledging our commitment and renewed dedication to duty at all time. Likewise, we are assuring the residents of the state of our readiness to continue to serve them and humanity,” he said.

Three Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP) were promoted and decorated to the rank of Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCP).

Three Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) were promoted and decorated to rank of Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACP); while 11 Superintendent of Police (SP) were promoted and decorated to rank of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP).
