Mrs. Onyinye Vivian Obi, wife of a senior Enugu-based journalist, Mr. Petrus Obi, has confessed to raising a false alarm in her recent petition to the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mohammed Adamu, in which she accused another Enugu-based journalist, Mrs. Chibota Edozie, of snatching her husband and conniving with him to make life unbearable for her and her children.

Mrs. Chibota Edozie had, in her reaction, dismissed the allegations and blamed it on Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) politics in which she and Petrus Obi are locked in battle with NUJ National President, Mr. Chris Isiguzo, over alleged certificate forgery. She accused Mr. Isiguzo of being the unseen hand behind the allegations.

Onyinye confirmed Chibota’s claims in her letter to the IGP dated December 22, 2020 entitled “RE: THREAT TO LIFE/SOS-LETTER OF WITHDRAWAL”.

The letter, copied the Commissioner of Police, Enugu, Area Commander, Enugu, and the press, reads:

“This is the follow up to my petition dated December 16, 2020 in which I accused Mrs.

Chibota Edozie of threat to my life and having a relationship with my husband, Mr.

Petrus Obi.

“I was misinformed about the allegations and coerced by Mr. Chris Isiguzo, President of

Nigeria Union of Journalism (NUJ) and his group, who prepared the said petition, made

Me to sign same and submitted the petition on my behalf and I hereby by this letter

Withdraw the allegations.

“I regret whatever embarrassment these false allegations might have caused my husband

Mr. Petrus Obi, and Mrs, Chibota Edozie.

“Mrs. Onyinye Vivian Obi”
