All is now set for the Third Echonews Community Awards holding from noon today, Thursday, December 17, 2020 at the Iconic Castle Events Centre on NNPC Road, Ejigbo, Lagos.

Lagos State Commissioner for Information & Strategy, Mr. Gbenga Omotosho, will deliver the maiden lecture of the annual Echonews Newspaper awards on behalf of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu currently indisposed due to COVID-19 infection.

Echonews Publisher Kehinde Bamigbetan disclosed the news after meeting Omotosho late Wednesday to finetune arrangements.

He expressed joy that the governor was responding to treatment and prayed he would bounce back soon.

“All of us want the governor to recover quickly. He has displayed excellent managerial skills in managing the affairs of the state. We miss his conversational and people engagement style,” Bamigbetan said.

Governor Sanwo-Olu was billed to deliver a lecture, “Mobilising Communities for Security and Prosperity” at the third annual lecture of Nigeria’s only free community weekly newspaper.

Omotosho’s choice excites Bamigbetan, who believes the governor’s representative’s profile as journalist, columnist editor and government’s image maker makes him the right man for the task.

“We couldn’t have wished for a better representative. Mr. Omotosho knows the issues and how to address them,” he said.

Besides, both Omotosho and Bamigbetan have maintained good relations since 1990 when Bamigbetan joined the sub-editing desk of The Guardian where Omotosho was a senior editor.

“I cut my teeth in sub-editing under the editors on that desk, including Mr. Omotosho,” he said.
