Property worth millions of naira destroyed as fire razes shops in Anambra

No fewer than seven lock up shops have been razed down at Ufuma junction in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The fire, which started around 1:20 a.m. today, Sunday, December 6, 2020, destroyed property worth millions of naira.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Haruna Mohammed, who confirmed the incident, said: “On the 6/12/2020, there was a report of fire incident at Ufuma junction in Orumba North LGA of Anambra State.

“The fire incident which allegedly started around 1:20am razed down completely Seven (7) lockup shops destroying properties worth millions of Naira.

“Meanwhile, police operatives attached to Ajali Division visited the scene and cordoned off the area to prevent hoodlums from looting while the fire was put off by local volunteers.”

Mohammed said that no life was lost in the inferno adding that the value of property destroyed is yet to be determined.

He disclosed that the case is under investigation to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the incident.
