David Irimagha, Council Chairman of Bonny Local Government Area of Rivers State, has restated the determination of his administration to secure the release of the five persons kidnapped at Banigo Community since September 12, 2020.
Irimagha stated this during the commissioning of a gunboat, “Bonny LGA Crime Watch 02” donated by his administration to the Marine Division of the Nigeria Police Force, Bonny Division in Bonny.
The five kidnapped persons including Daniel Hart, Theophilus Ibiama, Thompson Allison, Sunny Hart and Dagogo Jackmay were kidnapped at a funeral two months ago.
The council chairman noted that the donation was in line with the policy thrust of his administration to mainstream the security and wellbeing of the people of the area, explaining that the gunboat would be utilised by the Marine Police in their operations to secure the waterways around Bonny Local Government Area.
The new gunboat was commissioned by the Amanyanabo and Natural Ruler of Bonny Kingdom, His Majesty, King Edward Pepple III, Perekule XI, represented by the Secretary of the King Perekule Palace, Abel Attoni, who was accompanied by the Secretary of the Bonny Chiefs Council (BCC), Arthur Willie-Pepple.
Also present were the heads of some security agencies in the Bonny Local Government Area including the Commanding Officer, Forward Operating Base, Nigerian Navy, Bonny, Navy Capt. Badamasi Yahuza, who was represented by the Base Intelligence Officer (BIO), Lt. Nasir Yusuf, Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Bonny, SP Usman Sadiq, Divisional Officer, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kaizer Nelson, among others. (Daily Independent)
