President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan yesterday sacked the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Mallam Habib Abdullahi.

No reason was given for the action by Reuben Abati, Special Adviser to the President (Media & Publicity), who announced the sack in a statement issued last night in Abuja.

Abati disclosed that President Jonathan has approved the appointment of Alhaji Sanusi Lamido Ado Bayero, a lawyer and Kano prince, as NPA’s new Managing Director.

“The appointment of the new NPA Managing Director takes effect from tomorrow, Thursday, April 30 2015,” Abati said, adding:

“President Jonathan thanks the outgoing Managing Director for his services and wishes him well in his future endeavours.”
