All is now set for the 2015 Annual General Meeting (AGM)/Conference and Second Memorial Lecture of late Chief O.W. Udoh, as well as Award Dinner and N20 million fund launching for Secretariat expansion of the Akwa Ibom State chapter of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), in Uyo.
The AGM/Conference and the second memorial lecture of late O.W. Udoh, would take place at the NIPR (Image House), Information Drive, off IBB Avenue, Uyo, today, April 24, by 10am, while the awards night and the N20 million fund launching would hold at the State Civil Service Auditorium, Idongesit Nkanga Secretariat Complex, Uyo, at 7pm.
The event has as theme ‘Managing Reputation in National Crisis’, while the sub-theme is ‘The Emerging Challenges in Crisis Management: The Public Relations Perspective’.
Vice Chairman of the chapter, Mr. Okokon Robert, said in a statement in Uyo, that the paper presentation and Second Memorial Lecture in honour of the late Udoh, a doyen of the PR profession and pioneer chapter chairman of the Institute, was expected to create positive image in organisations, states and federal government.
During the event, Robert stated, awards would be presented to distinguished personalities, as well as fund raising for the expansion of the NIPR secretariat, adding that the key paper would be presented by Dr. Andee Iheme, director, South-South of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), while Prof. Des Wilson of the University of Uyo (UNIUYO), would present the second paper.
Robert stated that the governor of the state, Chief Godswill Akpabio (CON), would “be the Chief Guest of Honour and Mrs Akon Eyakenyi, the Minister of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, is expected as the Special Guest of Honour.”
“The chairman, University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Dr. Val Attah, and member of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission, Sen. Emmanuel Ibok Essien, will serve as chairman and principal launcher, respectively.
The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Aniekan Umanah, will be the Chief Host of the event, while the State Head of Service, Mrs. Cecillia Udoessien, will be the Guest of Honour at the occasion,” the vice chairman stated.
He invited practicing PR managers, Information Officers, political office holders, heads of departments in tertiary institutions, media professionals and those serving in conflicts and disputes-related departments, to attend.
