The first Ikenga Movies and Music award will hold in Nigeria in the next few months.

The event, the first of its kind, is the brainchild of award-winning Ikenga Entertainment Inc in conjunction with popular online news portal CKN Nigeria.

According to the organisers, THE AWARD would reward, appreciate, recognize and identify worthy sons and daughters of Igbo, who have excelled in the area of Igbo movies as well as music.

The coordinator of the project, Chris Kehinde Nwandu, who has handled several successive events in Nigeria, said the event which had taken several years in planning, will be a first class event, which would be celebrated across the length and breadth of Nigeria and beyond.

According to him, “IMMA which will become an annual event will be used to showcase the best of Igbo culture, music and movies.

Towards making the event a huge success, an array of seasoned media and entertainment practitioners is being assembled to recommend the modalities and scope of the event.

The event which is scheduled to take place in the last quarter of 2015 will be attended by the who is who in the entertainment industry, corporate world and key decision makers in Nigeria.”

The award, Nwandu also said, is being dedicated to late movie producer and Director Amaka Igwe “who did so much during her life time to uplift the standard of the movie industry in Nigeria.”

The maiden edition of the award will cover movies and music released between January 2014 and March 2015, while the award categories will be released in the next few weeks.
