It was bizarre in Evwreni Community, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State on Saturday evening as armed youths suspected to be members of a disbanded vigilante group, allegedly shot immediate past President General of Evwreni Kingdom, Chief Victor Ohare.

The rampaging youths also set ablaze and vandalized no fewer than three houses in the community and burnt two vehicles.

It was alleged that members of the disbanded vigilante group invaded the community at about 5 pm after the arrest of their former leader, Mr Tuesday Okuah, by police tactical team from Abuja over the alleged murderer of Mr Sylvester Adjogbe.

It could be recalled that Mr. Sylvester Adjogbe, younger brother to the immediate past NDDC Executive Director, Projects, Engr. Samuel Adjogbe, was killed by community armed youths in July this year.

And it was in connection with the murder that police detectives from Force Headquarters few days ago arrested Okuah and three others.

Irked by the arrest, armed youths said to be loyal to the former vigilante leaders went on rampaging on Saturday destroying houses and cars and in the process shot the former President-General of the Kingdom.

As at the time of filling this report, hundreds of persons have deserted their homes for fear of being killed by the arms-wielding youths.

The youths were also alleged to have mobilized to burn the homes of the former governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor and a former NDDC EDP, Engr. Adjogbe, but were repelled by security operatives. (Daily Independent)
