Elders and leaders from Eket Senatorial District of Akwa Ibom State rose from an enlarged stakeholders meeting in Eket reiterating their unflinching support and solidarity to the candidature of the PDP governorship candidate, Mr. Udom Gabriel Emmanuel, their son, in Saturday’s governorship elections, as well as all the PDP candidates for the State House of Assembly elections.
The elders and leaders, who cut across the 12 local government areas of the three Federal Constituencies in the District, noted that “despite the outcome of the last presidential elections, Akwa Ibom people should hold their heads high for their near 100 per cent vote castes for the PDP, which also saw the party emerging victorious in all the National Assembly seats in the state.”
Chairman of the occasion and former Minister of Lands and Housing, Chief Nduese Essien, stated that “the Senatorial District will not joke with the opportunity that has come their way now after 25 endless years of waiting.” He assured: “We will leave no stone unturned in acquiring massive votes for the PDP in the governorship and house of assembly elections.”
“Just as the northerners embarked on aggressive mobilisation just to reclaim power, we are also not leaving anything to chance as we will make sure that everyone comes out and vote for our son, Udom and all other PDP candidates come April 11, because this is our God’s given turn.” Chief Essien stressed.
The State Deputy Governor, Lady Valerie Ebe, who was also at the meeting, commended the Eket Senatorial District stakeholders for their unity and cooperation. He emphasised that such bonds which saw to the success of the party in the senatorial district during the recent National Assembly elections, “will translate to another round of victory for the party in the state, come April 11.”
Speaking for Eket Federal Constituency, Gen. Anthony Etukudo (rtd), said his “people have always supported PDP governorship candidates from other senatorial districts of the state since its inception and will vote overwhelmingly for Mr. Udom Emmanuel who happen to be our son and brother.”
Others who spoke at the occasion included Mr. Jerry Akpan, a lawyer and former Commissioner for Economic Development in the state, who spoke for Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency; Chief Peter Linus Umoh, a former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, who spoke for Oron Federal Constituency; Hon. Francis Uduyork, the House of Representative-elect for Ikot Abasi; the Eket District’s Senator-elect, Chief Nelson Effiong and the Minister of Lands and Housing, Mrs. Akon Eyakenyi, among other speakers.
They all maintained that “Udom Emmanuel’s world of experience and antecedences in the private and public sectors, coupled with a perfect blueprint” had created in him a perfect brand that was going “to make Akwa Ibom State an enviable economic hub in Nigeria and Africa at large.”
