The Chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum (Downstream), representing Rivers South-East, Senator. Magnus Abe, has congratulated the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari on his victory at the Presidential Poll.

Abe, who stated this in his reaction to Buhari’s emergence as President-elect of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, described the victory as a manifestation of the change the people yearned for.

The Senator commended those he called fathers of Nigeria’s march to greatness, among them Gov. Chibuike Amaechi for their resilience in the face of unwarranted persecutions, intimidation and oppression; saying posterity will remember their doggedness, tenacity and perseverance in the quest for a secure future for the country.

Abe disclosed that with Buhari was overwhelmingly chosen by Nigerians despite the billions of naira allegedly expended on smear campaigns against him, adding the country will now commence its realignment to the path of progress with his victory.

He urged Nigerians to see the victory anchored on their votes as victory for democracy; saying finally impunity, corruption and insecurity will now be things of the past.

“A new chapter has been opened in the history of our country; we are now sure of a stable economy and true democracy; Nigeria now has a future; we have our country back,” he declared.

The Senator, who stood for minutes thanking God for His mercies on Nigeria and Rivers State in particular amid chorusing of “I have a God who never fails” described General Buhari’s victory in Nigeria’s political history as historic.

In this development, “there is no victor and no vanquish,” he said, urging Nigerians to support General Buhari as his administration will benefit the entire country.
