The National Collation Centre for the presidential and National Assembly elections held this weekend across the country will swing into action from noon tomorrow.
Deputy Director of Publicity at the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mr. Nick Dazang, confirmed this minutes ago during a TV interview in Abuja.
He spoke shortly after INEC Chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega, told a press conference that only two states have finished collation.
“As I speak with you, just as I said, very, very few states have been collated. The information we had when we came here was that only two states had finished collation,” Jega had said, without disclosing the two states.
“We have not yet commenced collation,” he stressed. “We will not commence collation until stakeholders are first informed, including the press.”
News Express reports that the election had to continue in some places today due to card reader failure. Initial results show President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd.) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) establishing a strong lead over the 12 other candidates in the presidential ballot.
