The Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar, has promised to live up to the expectations of Nigerians and justify the confidence reposed in him by President Goodluck Jonathan and the Police Service Commission.

He made the promise this afternoon in Abuja following his confirmation as substantive Police IG after serving in acting capacity for six and a half months.

Mr. Mohammed, 53, replaced erstwhile IG, Mr. Hafiz Ringim, on January 25. His confirmation came less than 24 hours after his unceremonious removal of Mr. Olayinka Balogun as the Edo State Commissioner of Police and his replacement with Mr. Femi Adenaike barely two days to the Edo State governorship election.
