Vigilante rescues baby girl abandoned in bush

A baby girl abandoned by unknown person inside a bush in Nnokwa, Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State has been rescued by the community’s Vigilante.

The rescue team which was led by the Commander of Nnokwa Vigilante group in Umueshi village on August 4th 2020 were drawn to the bush following the girl’s cry.

A statement by the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Haruna Mohammed said, “A baby girl of about 2 months old was abandoned by unknown person inside Nnokwa bush and left crying.

“Following the report, police operatives visited the scene, rescued the baby alive but very sick and rushed her to Chukwu Nonso Hospital for medical attention.

“Meanwhile, the baby is gradually responding to treatment and will be handed over to the Social Welfare for proper care while effort is ongoing to trace the parent in order to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.”

He called on anyone with useful information about the child to report at Nnobi Divisional Police Station or contact PPRO Anambra State Police Command through GSM no 08060970639.
