A political earthquake of a sort has taken place in Rivers State, with the State Deputy Governor, Engr. Tele Ikuru, decamping from the ruling party in the state, the All Progressives Congress (APC), to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

A reliable source close to the Rivers State Government told News Express that Ikuru just announced his resignation from APC, thus throwing the party and the Chibuike Amaechi into panic. Rivers APC is expected to issue a statement on Ikuru’s defection in the next few hours.

Like Amaechi, Engr. Ikuru belonged to PDP, the ruling party at the centre, before following his principal into APC in November 2013.
