Ikoku 5: Ohanaeze youths thank Rivers CP, urge action on missing Obiukwu

Youth Leader of Pan-Igbo apex Sociocultural Organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Wing Rivers State, Amb Ezeilo Franklin, has expressed appreciation to the new Commissioner of Police Rivers State Command, CP Joseph G. Mukan, over his professional conduct and quick dispensation of Justice on Ikoku 5.

The youth leader said that the Commissioner ensured orderly room trial and subsequent dismissal of erring officers who conspired and carried out the barbaric torture, ill human treatment and incarceration of the Ikoku 5 and subsequent untimely gruesome murder of Chima Ikwunado while in their custody.

He equally thanked civil society organizations in the state led by Barr Higher King, Media practitioners, especially Kofi Bartels of 92.3FM Naijainfo, League of Igbo Lawyers, Ikoku Market Leadership and the Good people and Residents of Rivers State over their consistent pressure and commitment in different fora to ensure that justice is served no matter whose ox is gored both in the police command and ongoing court trials.

The Ohanaeze youth president pleaded with the CP to pay express attention to the petition brought before his office by Ohanaeze Ndigbo Rivers State Leadership over the missing of their son, Mr Arinze Obiukwu, who hails from Ihiala in Anambra state.

He noted that before his sudden disappearance, Obiukwu was a trader at Elele Market who was accused wrongly of unfounded allegations of rape and subsequently whisked away by the operatives of OSPAC Elele team on the 27th April, 2020 after several machette cuts and gruesome torture till date, adding: “Nobody knows his where about as at this moment.”

Ezeilo Franklin urged Nigerians and Rivers residents to speak up against injustice done to anyone no matter the tribe, religion, colour or even political affiliations reminding them that injury to one is injury to all.

He noted that humanity could be better if only the people show solidarity to each other in trying moments while urging them to continue observing the COVID 19 protocols to keep safe.
