Former president of the Performing Musicians Employers Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Dr Omatsola Iseli, popularly known as Tee Mac, has expressed shock at the death of Tony Allen.

The legendary drummer who was the pioneer drummer of Fela Anikulapo's Egypt 80 Band reportedly died yesterday (Thursday, April 30, 2020) in France where he lived.

In a chat with News Express late last night, the renowned flutist described Allen as a personal friend whom they worked together and even planned some joint musical performances in France later this year.

“I’m in shock Tony Allen is dead. He has been my friend since 1970. When he left Fela he worked briefly in 1983 with me and my band. The last time we jammed was at his 80th birthday on December 26, 2019. We planned some joint jigs in France this summer. May Tony rest in perfect peace and join the heavenly band with Fela,” said Tee Mac.
