Operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service have left at least two people believed to be traders dead and several others injured near Obasanjo Farms in Sango Otta, Ogun State, in the country’s South-West.
A 4pm news bulletin by RayPower FM Lagos said the Customs operatives were in pursuit of rice smugglers who were intercepted at the Oju Ore Junction but escaped to the nearby market and melted into the crowd.
Seeing that the smugglers had escaped, the Customs men shot sporadically into the market, RayPower reported.
It added that by the time the Customs operatives left, at least two people were confirmed dead and many others injured.
