The Office of National Security Adviser (ONSA) has described as unfair and a total falsehood the news making the rounds that the National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki, has ordered the arrest of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal. The police has also denied any such order, which reports in some media (News Express not included) claimed was given at a meeting with Vice President Namadi Sambo and Inspector General of Police Suleiman Abba held yesterday as the State House, Abuja.

Director Special Duties in the Office of National Security Adviser, retired Colonel Bello Fadile, this afternoon described the reports and rumours as untrue and total falsehood.

Colonel Fadile said in a statement in Abuja: “It is not only untrue and mere fabricated reports that the NSA met with the VP and ordered the arrest of Hon. Tambuwal. The fact is that the National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, has been outside the country since Wednesday on pressing national security issues.

“To the best of our knowledge, there is no any order for the arrest of Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of the House of Representatives.

“We therefore urge the media to always cross-check their stories before going to the press.”

Also reacting to the reports, Spokesman of the Nigeria Police Force, DCP Emmanuel Ojukwu, said there was no order for Tambuwal’s arrest. “It lies with the investigators to determine who should be quizzed and/or prosecuted, as the case may be for criminal acts,” Ojukwu stated.
