Inspector-General of Police, Ag. IGP Suleiman Abba, has suspended forthwith the identity cards currently in-use by members of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) members all over the country.

This was announced yesterday by Force Public Relations Officer, Ag CP Emmanuel Ojukwu, during a meeting with the leadership of PCRC from across the country.

Ojukwu said the measure “has become necessary to checkmate the illegal proliferation of the said ID cards by some criminally minded elements, who impersonate as members of the PCRC to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.”

He assured that a newly designed PCRC ID card would be issued to authentic members soonest.

IGP Abba in his address admonished the PCRC leadership to re-invigorate the tenets of the organisation nationwide, in order to deepen the concept of community policing, a veritable instrument in achieving the mission statements of the current police leadership.
