The bodies of Governor Patrick Yakowa of Kaduna State and immediate past National Security Adviser (NSA), Gen. Andrew Owoye Azazi (retd.), have been recovered, two hours after they died in a plane crash in the Nembe area of President Goodluck Jonathan’s home state, Bayelsa, South-South Nigeria. The crash occurred around 4:30 p.m.

“Their bodies have been recovered and are being evacuated,” an aide to Azazi said minutes ago. The information was relayed to News Express by one of Azazi’s friends who narrowly missed making the trip from which the ex-NSA never returned.

Yakowa and Azazi – who was removed as chief security adviser by President Jonathan last June 22 – were among political heavyweights who attended the burial of the father of Oronto Douglas, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Research, Documentation and Strategy. News Express learnt that Pa Douglas Obebara died last March but, somehow, his burial was delayed till today.
