President Goodluck Jonathan has cancelled his much-advertised visit to Chibok, Borno State, where Boko Haram terrorists on April 14 abducted more than 200 teenagers fromGovernment Girls Secondary School.

“The president has cancelled his visit to Chibok. It was on his schedule up until this morning,” a presidential official told AFP.

No reason was immediately given for the action.

Jonathan, who has been under fire for refusing to visit Chibok to commiserate with the affected families, is now due to head direct to a security summit in Paris on Saturday to discuss the Boko Haram threat to regional stability.
