According to the State Police Commissioner, Sai’du Madawaki, who paraded the suspects, the deceased suspect with three others were alleged cultists and had gone to rob an occupant of a white house phase 11 lodge in Ayingba.

While speaking with journalists, the Commissioner, Sai’du Madawaki, said that the armed robbers engaged policemen in Ayingba and in the process one of them was shot dead.

A 20-year-old suspect, Ugochukwu Rapheal, a 100-level student studying History, and Jimoh Farouk, a 400-level student studying Mathematics, claimed that they had gone out that night to buy food before the incident took place.

Another suspect, 23-year-old Babatunde Obaniro, a Mechanical Engineering student in the same university, was paraded for breaking into a shop with his group to steal hand set, a crime he confessed to.
