The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed a publication in one of the dailies claiming that one of the party’s presidential aspirants has been endorsed by the key leaders of the party.

“Nothing can be farther from the truth and all Nigerians are urged to disregard the publication as it is a fabrication from the imagination of the author even as he tried to make it look authoritative. It is calculated to create confusion,” PDP National Organizing Secretary, Col. Austin Akobundu (rtd.), said Tuesday in a statement

He reminded Nigerians that “the Prince Uche Secondus-led NWC has repeatedly made it clear that all party congress would be free, fair, transparent and open.”

Akobundu emphasised that a rebranded PDP has no room for impunity and imposition of candidates.

He said that the transparent primaries conducted in Ekiti State last month that produced the PDP flag bearer for the July 14 gubernatorial election is a testimony to the fact that PDP is determined to pursue rule-driven processes.

Akobundu assured party members particularly presidential aspirants and their supporters that the contest would be open and transparent and Nigerians will be happy at the outcome.
