Senate adopts conference committee report on 2018 Budget

The Senate has approved the report of the conference committee on the 2018 budget, set up to harmonise the different provisions from the two chambers of the National Assembly.

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriation, Senator Danjuma Goje laid and presented the report in plenary on Thursday.

A new clause, titled “Condition for foreign loan,” was introduced. It was from the version which emanated from the House of Representatives.

Aside from this, other amendments adopted by the committee bordered on choice of words and arrangement of phrases.

Recall that both chambers separately passed the N9.1 trillion budget on May 16 and set up a joint conference committee to harmonise differences in the versions passed by each.
