Eagle-eyed security agents at the Ekwueme Square, Awka, Anambra State, venue of the ongoing South East summit on restructuring, have arrested two suspected armed members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Security had been watertight at the venue and around the state capital, following threat by the IPOB to disrupt the event.

A police helicopter was seen hovering over Awka, especially the precinct of the Ekwueme Square as early as 8:00a.m.

The Anambra State commissioner of police has been on ground with other sister security agencies including the Nigeria Prisons Service. Truth is that the security architecture of the state has been thoroughly stretched.

It gathered that a special team led by an Assistant Commissioner of Police was dispatched to Awka, the state capital,  by Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 9, Umuahia, Hosea Karma.

Daily Sun gathered that some youth leaders from Anambra State had worked closely with the police, discreetly identifying suspected Biafra activists. Those spotted are usually whisked away to a secluded place, quizzed and taken away if found wanting. (Daily Sun)
