Agitators in the Niger Delta, yesterday, raised the alarm over the huge incursion of foreigners and supposed northern youths into the region, calling on security agencies and Nigerian Immigration Service, NIS, to wake up to their responsibilities.

The agitators, under the auspices of 21st Century Youth of Niger Delta and Agitators with Conscience, in a statement by the leader, W O I Izon-Ebi, said:

“The attention of the 21st Century Youth of Niger Delta and Agitators with Conscience has been drawn to the massive influx of people from the Northern part of the country into the Niger Delta.

“We call on security agencies and the Nigerian Immigration Service to take a closer look at the trend of these migrations. From our observations, these migrations are organised and sponsored since these people arrive in trailer loads almost on a daily basis.

“They are equally accommodated in pre-arranged places and at the shortest possible time are engaged in trades, which are sponsored by the people who brought them.” (Vanguard)
