Nigerian Senate, ahead of the forthcoming Children’s Day, has assured that it would play its role on Child Rights Act, its domestication and implementation.

This followed a motion sponsored by lawmaker representing Adamawa North, Senator Binta Garba, during the plenary on Thursday.

Senate President, Bukola Saraki, speaking on the development, said children are the future and hope of this country, promising that all effort will be geared towards building a safer and greater environment for them for the development of Nigeria.

Senator Dino Melaye, representing Kogi West, in his remarks said: “We call on Nigerian parents to teach children ethical values that will promote patriotism and nationalism in the country.”

Another Lawmaker, Senator Barnabas Gemade, representing Benue North East, maintained that all the ills that exist in our society today are being noticed by our children. He said an additional prayer, urging the Federal Government at all levels to urgently address social ills in the country.

Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, in his comment, stated: “Our children are our future, we need to protect them.”
