The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission today launched a surprise raid on the Kano House of Assembly.

It was a rich harvest for the anti-graft agency, as its net caught 11 principal officers of the House, among them the Speaker, Gambo Salau, his Deputy, Majority Leader,  Deputy Majority Leader, Minority Leader, Deputy Minority Leader, the Chief Whip, Chairman House Committee on Appropriation, chairman, House Committee on Finance and the Clerk of the Assembly.

Their arrest is said to be in connection with a petition by some Kano indigenes alleging abuse of office by the suspects the passage in the passage, last week, of the N28 billion supplementary budget for the state.

The arrested lawmakers and Clerk have been flown to Abuja for questioning.
