Oyi Crisis: Army hands over suspects to Police

The Nigerian Army has handed over to the Nigeria Police Force, two suspected criminals for further investigation and necessary action.

The suspects, Chukwunonso Ikewinlo and Christian Obalem, were, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Deputy Director, Public Relations, 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Col. Sagir Musa, arrested in the early hours of Sunday 23 April 2017, during a cordon and search operation in the Nteje area of Oyi Local Government Area of Anambra State by a joint team of the Department of State Services and 302 General Support Regiment Onitsha.

As a result of the operation, the Army Spokesman said the suspects were arrested with seven Pump Action Guns, 44 live cartridges, a knife and two cutlasses.

“In line with the policy of the 82 Division, Nigerian Army, the suspects and the exhibits were on Monday 25 April, handed over to the Nigeria Police, Anambra State Command by the Commander 302 Regiment, Colonel Idongesit Uko Akpan for further action,” Musa said in the statement.
