Scores feared dead as explosions hit University of Maiduguri

Scores of people are feared dead following twin explosions in the vicinity of the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID).

The Borno State Commissioner of Police Damian Isuku has mobilized to the scene of the blast for on the spot assessment of the situation, a report by Daily Trust said.

It quoted Borno State Police Spokesman Victor Isuku as confirming to journalists the Monday early morning explosions.

The report said that Isuku noted that the blast happened during early morning prayers by Muslim faithful, and promised to provide more details soon.

UNIMAID students are said to have been locked up in their hostels as a result of the deadly blasts.
