Dust haze to usher Nigeria into 2017, says weatherman

Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) has made the following predictions about Nigerian weather condition for today, Sunday, January 1, 2017:

NORTHERN STATES: Moderate dust haze conditions with visibility values between 3-5km are expected over the region throughout the forecast period. Early morning thick dust haze with localised visibility of less than or equal to 1,000m is expected over places such as Kano and environs. Day and night temperature values are expected to be in the range of 28 – 31°C and 10 – 17°C respectively.

CENTRAL STATES: Moderate dust haze conditions with visibility values between 3-5km are expected over this region throughout the forecast period with localised horizontal visibilities less than 1,000m in some areas such as Zaria.

Day and night temperature values are expected to be in the range of 25 – 34°C and 10 – 17°C respectively.

SOUTHERN STATES: Moderate dust haze conditions with visibility values between 2-5km are anticipated over the region within the next 24 hours. Localised visibility less than 1000m are likely in places such as Enugu, Awka, Eket and Ijebu-Ode. The day and night time temperatures are expected to be in the ranges of 32 – 33°C and 17 – 22°C.
