Senate President Bukola Saraki has promised that the focus of the Senate, on resumption to its legislative assignments, would be predicated upon robust debate on the economy and the way out of the economic challenges bedevilling the nation.

He made the promise on Monday in his office at the National Assembly during a courtesy visit by representatives of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN). He added that the Senate would put legislative backing to policies needed to revamp the economy as done with the Railway Bill.
While welcoming the delegation, Saraki stated that their visitation was indeed timely, especially with the current economic challenges facing the country. He gave an assurance that the Senate would be committed on delivering its promises.
Dr Frank Jacobs, who led the group, stressed the need for economic diversification by patronising locally produced goods. He also stressed the need to intensify efforts to make gas and power available in the country.
Among the Senators who joined Saraki to host MAN delegation were Kabiru Gaya, Pbilip Aduda, Sam Egwu, Matthew Urhoghide and Ogola Foster, among others.
