Governor Tanko Al-Makura of Nasarawa State has solicited the support of the state civil servants on issues of transparency and accountability to enable government recruit more into the service.

Governor Al-Makura made the call while declaring open the first interactive Labour Summit in Lafia, organized for both government and Labour leaders to seek mutual understanding of issues affecting the state civil service.

While the governor was of the view that organized Labour must cooperate with government in blocking all leakage in the service, Labour leaders agreed that it is in the interest of all to entrench transparency and accountability.

State Chairman of the Nigerian Labour Congress, said that the summit would help both parties seek understanding on all issues.

When it was time to speak on the theme: ‘Government Labour Relations: Imperative For Good Governance,’ Governor Al-Makura charged the summit to support his effort in creating more employment opportunities.

The interactive summit threw up issues like the continued verification of workers, promotion and payment of pension, which the government says it has always kept faith with. (Channels TV)
