Oluwafemi Awoloja, 54, who allegedly stole the property of his neighbour, Temitope Ogunbayo, valued at N449, 881 was on Wednesday brought before a Surulere Chief Magistrates' Court Lagos.

Awoloja of no fixed address is facing a two-count charge of burglary and stealing.

The Prosecutor, Anthonia Osayande told the court that accused broke into his neighbour’s apartment situated at No. 14, Adegunwa St. Aguda, Surulere and stole some items.

“He stole two HP laptops valued at N160,000, one Apple Mac laptop valued at N180,000, one clipper valued at 3,000 and jewelleries valued at N105,000, which added up to N449,881.”

Osayande said that the offences contravened Section 305(a) and 285 (1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Chief Magistrate Mrs. A.I. Nwanchukwu granted the accused bail in the sum of 20,000 with one surety.

She ordered that the surety should provide evidence of tax payments with a verified address and adjourned the case to Oct. 26 for mention. (NAN)
