Tragedy struck in Ilorin on Wednesday when a retired Grade One Referee, Mr.  Ishaku Musa Dodo, slumped and died while jogging inside the mainbowl of the Kwara State Sports Stadium, Ilorin.‎

The late Dodo, 44, a former member of Kaduna State Referees Council, was posted to Kwara State for his National Youth Service, and resumed in his new station at Kwara United FC earlier that same day.

He was listed as a grade one referee in 1999.

Dodo was confirmed dead after thorough examination at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) where he was rushed to after he slumped during the second lap of the exercise.

His remains have been deposited at the UITH mortuary in Ilorin.

THISDAY, which broke the story of his death, reported that it might not be unconnected with heart failure, even though he was said to have undergone Electro Cardiogramme (ECG) test three months earlier.
